Project Overview

Hamza, the founder of Second Sole, approached me with a clear mission: to launch a thrift shoe store for women in Pakistan with a large product inventory. But like many first-time store owners, he was unsure whether to go with Shopify or WordPress.

We began with a discovery session where I walked him through the pros and cons of both platforms, focusing on cost, inventory management, design flexibility, and long-term ownership. After that, WordPress with Elementor was chosen for its control, scalability, and lower recurring costs.

Project execution

I designed the store from scratch using Figma for the layout and Elementor for frontend customization. After the first mockup, we iterated based on client feedback, refining the UI to match the brand’s tone — vibrant, minimalist, and easy to navigate.

Key Features:

  • Bulk Uploading 1,000+ Products: I created a custom CSV template and guided the client in filling out accurate product data, saving countless hours of manual uploads.

  • Shipping Integration: Integrated local courier services with dynamic delivery rates and automated shipping rules — a first-time challenge turned into a smooth experience.

  • Condition-Based Pricing: Used custom filters and applied smart sales logic to dynamically show prices based on product condition (like-new, gently used, etc.).

  • Custom Code Implementation: Wrote efficient snippets to enhance WooCommerce’s default functionality — especially for filtering and sale tagging at scale.

  • Basic SEO Setup: Implemented SEO best practices using Rank Math, created structured product categories, and added Google Analytics for performance tracking.
